#AskALLi is an umbrella campaign in which we promise to answer any question anyone might have about self-publishing.
We provide all the education and research our members need to become excellent self-publishers: able to produce and promote excellent books in an ethical and reader-centric way.
#AskALLi distinguishes between fact and opinion, rejects speculation in favor of what has been tried and tested by our members and followers.
We focus on agreed best practice and long-term strategies for building a sustainable writing practice and a sustainable and scalable author business.
Yes, we’ll tell you about publishing shortcuts and neat tricks and tools and yes, we know that each indie authors is the expert in their own working life, the creative director their books and their author business. But the #AskALLi campaign has two guiding principles that underlie all our education programs:
Learn Publishing and Business Skills: the use of established business principles to foster true author independence. steady, sustainable, long-term growth, and
Publish Widely: Indie authors do best when we exploit our intellectual property in as many formats as possible, and through as many platforms as possible. Unlike an author that exclusively licenses their rights to one trade publisher, an independent author self-publishes and selectively licenses rights. (see Copyright Bill of Rights book below and Self-Publishing 3.0 campaign for more)
To that end, the #AskALLi Campaign provides:
- Member Advice Forum: Advice from advisors and members on editorial, book design, production, distribution, marketing and promotion, running an indie author business and selling rights
- Monthly Member Q&A: Members can submit questions in writing to be answered in live video by Director Orna Ross and Advisor Michael la Ronn
- Self-publishing Advice Center, our reach-out to the wider indie author community.
- Daily blog
- Bi-weekly podcast
- ALLi members have lifetime free access to the biannual online Self-Publishing Conference
#AskALLi offers advice you can trust, in a collegiate spirit that allows you to make up your own mind.
ALLi’s Copyright Bill of Rights
Copyright law, policy, and practice underwrites the publication and sale of books. The income that every author and publisher receives derives from copyright law. Independent authors, who are both writers and publishers, and who actively manage their own publishing rights, need to understand the importance of copyright and how to assert their rights in the digital age.
