Benefit from Great Advice
The top of the list of benefits of ALLi membership is the abundance of great advice. When you’re a member of ALLi, you’re in a safe space to ask questions and get answers, motivation, and support from other members and advisors. If you’re ready to harness the wisdom of our extensive global group, join us!
Learn from Worldclass Teachers & Advisors
Our Advisor team is the best in the author-publishing business. Through our online events, our guidebooks (free to members), our blog and member resource page, they generously share their expertise with our members.
Attend Free Online Seminars, Workshops, Indierecon Conference & Member Q&A Sessions
Regular online sessions with key advisors address your self-publishing quandries and queries, including a monthly Q&A with Orna Ross and Joanna Penn. Some events are open, some closed. All are free to members. See events page for details of what’s coming up soon.
Access Free Legal Or Contracts Advice
Legal advice and feedback on contracts (Author Services, Self-Publishing Providers, Trade Publishers and Literary Agents).
Get Help Selling Translation & TV & Film Rights
We help you publish your book around the world, though our major discount deal with Pubmatch, the “one-stop shop for international rights needs” (just $9.99 for ALLi members, usual price $79.99) and IPR Licence, who list and license literary rights, including translation, film and TV. We work in Europe with Dialogue Berlin, scouts for international book-to-screen projects, and in LA with Voyage Media, who has sold a number of self-publishing projects to Hollywood. Rights Advisor Tom Chalmers (IPR, UK) and Seth Dellon (Pubmatch, US) and their teams are also on hand to help you sell rights and answer your rights queries.
Feature On Our Searchable Author Database
Get listed in our searchable ‘Find An Indie Author’ member database — trawled by literary festivals, event organisers, journalists, publishers, literary agents and anyone in need of great author-publishers. (Professional Members, those who make a living from author-publishing, get a pro listing and a professional status badge for their website.
Meet Publishing & Self-Publishing Contacts
Benefit from ALLi’s growing reputation and connections with book fairs, printers, booksellers, distributors, literary festivals, self-publishing services and rights managers. We visit Book Fairs and other events on your behalf, taking your books with us in our rights catalogue.
Get Alerts From Our Services Watchdog
We offer independent evaluation of any self-publishing service and or author resource — anyone offering editing to promotion and everything in between. Mick Rooney, Ben Galley, Michael Marcus, Victoria Strauss, David Gaughran and others contribute their knowledge to help protect you from the sharks in the literary waters. Our Watchdog Jim Giammatteo assesses potential Partner Members to highlight the best … and the rest. And from all this expertise, we produce a regularly updated book, Choosing A Self-Publishing Service (like all our guides, free to members).
Access Our Publishing Services Directory
In our member zone, we offer a searchable database of our Partner Members, companies and individuals who offer resources to writers, from editorial to publicity and beyond and have been vetted by ALLi’s Watchdog and members. And Nerys Hudson is producing a Directory that will collate the listings with excellent advice on choosing a self-publishing service.

Because We Campaign On Your Behalf
We promote the interests of indie authors within the literary, self-publishing and trade-publishing industries. Through ALLi’s strength in numbers, you have clout. Your voice is heard.
Our ongoing campaign, Open Up To Indie Authors, encourages and aids literary events, festivals, book prizes, reviewers, booksellers and other interested parties to find ways to include self-publishing authors. This includes a guidebook of the same name, a petition to raise awareness and a “Name and Gain” feature on the Self-Publishing Advice Blog.
Benefit from Our Affiliate Programme
Our member-only affiliate programme pays 30% of the first year’s fee for each enrolment referred to us — whether through your website or blog, at a meet-up, or by direct word-of-mouth.
Every member is automatically an affiliate. By joining you receive a link and a code for your website. Affiliate fees are paid out every month.
To Show Your Commitment To Quality Standards
All our members abide by a code of ethics and excellence. Membership shows you’re not one of those self-publishers that doesn’t bother with editing or design.
For Great Discounts
We negotiate great discounts on behalf of our members with self-publishing services, printers, designers, editors, proofreaders, PR and marketing agencies, rights managers and also for key literary and publishing events like London Book Fair and Book Expo America. Save on your subscription fee many times over.
To Stand Proud
An indie author is the creative director of your books, from conception to completion. That’s a great thing to be. We encourage all our members to be proud of their indie status and carry that self-respect into all their ventures, negotiations and collaborations for your own benefit and to benefit all writers.
To Give Back To The Indie Author Community
Ask not what the community can do for you but what you can do to help further this exciting, innovative global movement that is changing how books are written, published and read, all over the world.
