IPR & Pubmatch

* Note: We are currently awaiting new discount codes for 2016, available beginning January *

IPR Licence and Pubmatch are two new rights management platforms that allow authors and publishers to trade publishing rights and permissions with other publishers, agents and other rights buyers. Both sites are transactional — which means you can buy and sell your rights on their platform, paying them a percentage fee of the deal. If you’d rather meet buyers offline, you can also indicate which trade fairs you are attending, find other attendees and set up meetings. They provide a database for all your books, which you can update as and when necessary to keep on top of your rights. ALLi is keenly watching progress in this area and offers a member discount to both services, which are similar but based in different territories.

Membership of IPR Licence is organised around a profile that you set up on their website. Their team can offer help on getting your profile right through a preliminary report service, read uploaded manuscripts and if suitable, promote it to agents.

A tailored global bulletin features your work to a list of potentially interested publishers. For an extra fee, IPR License will also include your work in a catalogue of rights that they take to publishing fairs and industry events like London Book Fair, Book Expo America, Frankfurt, Beijing and New Dehli Book Fair.

In addition, IPR Licence offers each ALLi author on their platform free Rights Consultancy. This includes:

  • a one-to-one phone consultation with an IPR team member, to review the author’s current situation and provide insight on future rights opportunities in their arena, together with areas to target.
  • Following this phone consultation, each member will receive a Preliminary Report, which provides an in-depth critique of their author profile and book records to ensure all relevant information is up on the platform and is maximizing their visibility and making them as appealing as possible to rights buyers.
  • They also produce a dedicated ALLi Members Page to showcase all ALLi author members on the platform. This is linked to the authors book records / profiles and can be used for cross promotion and ALLi will use it to take those authors whose sales do not meet the needs for TMA to the book fairs at Frankfurt, London and BEA.
  • ALLi DISCOUNT – ALLi Members are entitled to 50% discount off usual membership price of 99GBP + TAX and inclusion in Bi-monthly branded Global Bulletin to over 50,000 publishers in over 90 countries. Cost to ALLi Members, just 49.99GBP. Visit the Discounts and Deals page to avail of this.

Pubmatch is a partnership between the US trade-publishing magazine, Publishers Weekly and the Combined Book Exhibit. Like IPR License, it has a global outlook and list of contacts. Again, your membership is routed around a profile, listing your work available and allowing you to reach out and contact (and receive messages from) agents and publishers with a potential interest in your work.

ALLi DISCOUNT – ALLi Members are entitled to a $45 discount off the premier membership price of $79.99. Cost to ALLi Members, just $34.99. Again, visit the Discounts and Deals page to avail of this.
