Trusted Self-Publishing Advice
The problem with self-publishing, especially when starting out, is not a lack of information but the opposite. ALLi members know they can trust the advice they receive. It’s been tried and tested by the community and its advisors and we are the only non-profit association for self-publishing authors.
Worldclass Teachers & Advisors
Our Advisor network is simply the best in the world and all are incredibly supportive of our members and the wider indie community.

Everybody self-publishes differently so we offer a number of opportunities to have your questions answered directly, including a monthly Member Only Q&A with Director Orna Ross and Advisor Joanna Penn.

Networking & Contacts
Benefit from ALLi’s growing reputation, contacts and connections with publishing and self-publishing experts. Since 2013, our founder, Orna Ross, has been named “one of the 100 most influential people in publishing” by The Bookseller. ALLi connects with book fairs, booksellers, distributors, literary festivals, self-publishing services and rights managers on your behalf. We bring the three big publishing fairs, London, BEA & Frankfurt, to you each year through the Indie Author Fringe online and take your books and services with us wherever we go in our directories and databases.
Self-Publishing Services Watchdog
We offer independent evaluation of self-publishing service. Mick Rooney, Victoria Strauss, David Gaughran and others contribute their knowledge to our Watchdog Desk, headed up by John Doppler Schiff and Jim Giammatteo. We also have a vetted Partner Membership for those offering approved services, from freelance designers and editors to Amazon KDP and Apple iBooks. From this input, we produce an annually updated guidebook, How To Choose A Self-Publishing Service (like all our guides, free to members).
Approved Publishing Services Database & Directory
In our member zone, we offer a searchable database of our Partner Members, companies and individuals who offer good resources to writers, through each of the seven stages of the publishing process. All have been vetted and approved. Twice a year we produce a Directory that collates the listings, giving authors a convenient trusted services directory.

Proudly Together For Each Other
An indie author is a creative director, overseeing the writing, making and selling of one or more books, from conception to completion. That’s one great achievement when it’s done well. We know this movement is great for all writers, whether or not they choose to self-publish and ALLi members are proud of our indie status and carry that pride into all our ventures, negotiations and collaborations, with publishers, services and other authors.
Nonprofit: Giving Back To The Indie Author Community
All our profits are reinvested in our organization, for the benefit of our members and the wider indie community. We’re not just an organization, we’re part of a movement. Join in to help our work and further this exciting transformation in how books are being written, published and read.
