In a world where technology has crashed and a ruthless dictator rules the Federated Republic of America with an iron fist, eighteen-year-old Marcos finds himself trapped within the impenetrable walls of Queenstown. Despite his attempts to escape, he is "disappeared" into a secret labor camp, with his controlling father's approval.
But Marcos never expected to find a vibrant and diverse rebel movement, the Underground, within the confines of the labor camp. Fueled by his anger and a desire for freedom, Marcos joins forces with his new found family to take action against the oppressive regime and free the labor camp. However, their rebellion could come with a high price.
The Supreme Commander will stop at nothing to maintain control over his citizens, even if it means crushing uprisings and those daring enough to lead them.
As Marcos and his friends risk everything for their freedom, they face the harsh reality that the Supreme Commander will not go down without a fight. Will their determination be enough to defeat the tyrant and free the labor camp or will they fall victim to his ruthless tactics?

What a compelling, gripping dystopian read. The author did an incredible job crafting a narrative that spoke to this world’s gritty reality. The mythos and world-building the story took on elevated the action and the drama that unfolded. The setting is unique in this story, as the story brings the reader into a divided land, with the imagery in the author’s writing capturing the nation’s divisiveness.
The heart of this story resides in the character development and the themes that this story represents. The way the story mirrored our divisive world and the conflict in recent years spoke to the theme of oppression and overcoming the odds to find hope once more. The characters embodied this perfectly, and having multiple points of view allowed the reader to get a clearer picture of how the nation divided amongst itself.
A thrilling, compelling, and entertaining YA Dystopian read, author CC Robins’s “Divided” is a must-read novel. The twists and turns in the story and the emotional heart of this story as the characters band together and face overwhelming odds made this one story you wouldn’t want to put down and a great entry in the series. There are loads of things I love about reading and two of them are discovering a new author and a new series. And with this book I had this.
Impenetrable walls. Ethnic division. A ruthless dictator.
Escape. It’s all eighteen-year-old Marcos Sanchez can think about as he stares at the towering walls of Queenstown in the Federated Republic of America, the ruthless dictator Supreme Commander Martin’s stronghold. But with Marcos’s father controlling his life, freedom seems like an impossible dream. That is, until one daring move lands him in a secret labor camp, facing a future worse than death, and he encounters a secret rebel movement – The Underground.
But their rebellion won’t come without consequences. Martin and his toadies will stop at nothing to crush the Underground’s uprising, and the stakes are higher than ever. Will Marcos and his diverse group of friends’ determination and bravery be enough to free the camp, or will they too fall victim to Martin’s iron fist?
So whenever I start to read a new author I research them first, I look at their Goodreads page and if they have an author website I have a look there too.
9 times out of 10 I also sign up for their author newsletter.
And this is exactly what I did with this author.
It never changes my opinion of the book but I am always curious to see their background and what makes them tick.
And yes I did subscribe to her newsletter.
I couldn’t wait to read this book.
I absolutely adore YA and when I first started to read this genre it was very limited to what was available but over the course of a few years both authors and publishers have realised that there is a big market out there. So lucky for us readers, we have shining bright stars such as CC Robinson releasing books for us YA lovers to enjoy. And what a book this truly is.
The whole way through the book there is tension building and building with the action non stop.
The world the author has created is so wild, and something so unique, a place where you have your own selection depending on your skin colour. And there’s no communication between sections. She really thought out of the box for this. And it was plotted so well.
And it was like the book was divided into sections, with characters from 4 sections telling their story.
I have to say I was so impressed with this book, nothing was want I expected
If I was asking to explain my feelings for this book, I would say it’s like a ride you would find at a theme park, you start slowly building up faster and faster than it slows down again, but not knowing what’s around the corner.
Can you imagine being the author of this book and being so clever and talented that you can produce something like this.
As soon as I finished this book I was straight on the book 2 ‘Caged.'”
