Global Self-publishing

ALLi is the only global self-publishing membership organization. We're now entering our second decade and our authors are found all over the world. Through our members, partners, ambassadors and organization network, we support ethics and excellence in self-publishing for indie authors everywhere and at all levels of society.

Did you know?

The Alliance of Independent Authors commissions original independent research as well as collating self-publishing data from across the sector. Below are just a few facts and figures, you can read more here.

Self-published (indie) authors earn more than traditionally published authors.

Indie authors can self-publish in almost two hundred countries, in formats including hardback, paperback, eBooks and audiobooks.

More than 2,000 self-published authors have surpassed $100,000 in royalties. (Amazon, 2022)

Indie authors have made the USA Today bestseller list, won literary awards, achieved MAs and PhDs in Creative Writing, as well as taking up paid positions as Writers in Residence in prestigious organisations such as the British Library.

Amazon created the Kindle Storyteller Award, whose £20,000 prize fund is larger than the Pulitzer Prize.

Books by indie authors account for 30-34% of all e-book sales in the largest English-language markets, as reported in Publishers Weekly.

No matter where you live in the world, ALLi can help you self-publish great books and sell them to readers around the globe.

ALLi works across eight key publishing territories and helps authors to reach across borders and find a global readership.

  • Africa
  • Asia & Middle East
  • Australia & New Zealand
  • Canada
  • Europe
  • South & Central America
  • United Kingdom of GB & NI (UK)
  • United States of America (US)

Our Ambassadors

ALLi ambassadors are volunteer members who support our global campaigns for ethics and excellence in their local area. They connect local indie authors and services,  encourage and answer new self-publishers' questions about local markets and conditions, and demonstrate how ALLi can help indie authors make better books and reach more readers.

Would you like to be an ALLi Ambassador? If you have been an ALLi member for over a year and have built up some experience in self-publishing, we would be glad to hear from you. We'd like to build up a wide network to support our global community. You can read more about our Ambassadors here. Contact
