Darnnell Reese is a Desert Storm combat veteran, author, and federal cybersecurity professional. In 1990, at just nineteen years old, she deployed to Saudi Arabia as a Military Intelligence Analyst with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, VII Corps. She survived the Battle of 73 Easting—the largest American tank battle since World War II—and became one of the few female soldiers authorized to wear the 2nd ACR combat patch. Her service came at a cost: she endured assault, retaliation, and toxic exposures while protecting a secret that would change her life forever—she was pregnant in a war zone.
After leaving the Army in 1992, Darnnell built a successful career in federal law enforcement and cybersecurity, working with tools like EnCase, Intella, and Analyst Notebook. But for 34 years, she kept her military story buried. It wasn't until her daughter Deidra—the baby she carried through Desert Storm—asked to know the truth that Darnnell finally put pen to paper. Together, they co-authored *Blanket Party in Desert Storm: From Beatdown and Spiritually Broken to Eternally Blessed*, which earned a Kirkus Reviews "GET IT" recommendation and was selected for the January 2026 Kirkus Magazine Indie Spotlight feature.
Darnnell is also the author of *Victorious! Defeating Giants and Bullies God's Way* and *In All Seriousness...Totally Funny Bible Stories*. She lives in Fort Washington, Maryland with her husband Terrence. Her mission is to give voice to the women veterans whose combat experiences have been overlooked, dismissed, and erased from history.
