Irina Shapiro was born in Moscow. In 1982 her family immigrated to New York, where for the first time she had access to all the books she would never have been allowed to read in Soviet Russia. She quickly discovered an interest in British history and became fascinated with time-travel as a plot device.
Writing might have remained an unattainable dream had she not left her job as a Logistic Manager to focus on her autistic son. Now, with more than thirty books to her name in both the romantic fantasy and historical mystery genres, Irina has realized her childhood dream and found a passion to last a lifetime.
